how can maidana b a 4 round fighter yet he sucked n the opening rounds n almost KO'd khan late?

maidana is a 4 round fighter but the 4 rounds he fights aren't always the same. sometimes its 1-4, sometimes it 9-12, and sometimes its 1,3,8, and 11. you just never know. he's unpredictable.
