what makes the UFC so successful is their exposure and promotion abilities. they can turn any bum into a superstar.

UFC vs Pride is prime example of that. Pride had the better talent back in the day, but the UFC fighters were more popular and made more money because of UFC's promotion. Even though Liddell got his ass handed to him in PRIDE, most mma fans still believed that he was the best fighter on the planet because of how the UFC promoted him.

If the fighters make the business, than PRIDE would have been making more money than the UFC which wasn't the case.

I'll just give you a clue.

Pride had the better talent, because they paid better.

Their collapse had nothing to do with the UFC. They imploded because of their organized crime problem.

Rulon Gardner just revealed for example that he was offered $1 million to fight Fedor (and he turned it down). How many UFC fighters do you suppose have earned $1 million in one fight?

Probably few enough to count on one hand.

Call me when Zuffa equals itself to the task of this type of promotional event.

no, PRIDE "offered" more money on paper, but never actually paid their fighters big money. Especially the non-japanese fighters.

Hundreds of fighters have yet to be paid what they were offered from PRIDE.

Rulon Gardner would have been lucky to even see 30,000 of those dollars.

An offer and actual payment are 2 different things. And according to PRIDE, a contract and actual payment are also 2 entirely different things.

You feel like offering a citation or two for your claims?

I kinda understand what you're saying Nodogoshi but UFC would be fine without Jon Jones, Jon Jones on the other hand would take a big loss in pay and sponserships if he where to fight anywhere else. It's not like he has a huge fan base that would follow him to another promotion....

no, one fighter is bigger than the ufc. ask roger huerta, frank shamrock, brock lesnar and tito ortiz.

jon can leave right now and guess what?

we'll just be talking about vitor-machida and hendo fighting the winner of that. all of which would be a pretty damn exciting schedule of fights.

while jon will make a fraction of what he does now in bellator. with less exposure and promotional support. which would in effect cause big, non-mma specific sponsors(nike) to drop him.

why? cause big brands don't endorse athletes in 2nd tier leagues. in the case of mma; ufc (nfl), bellator (cfl), 1fc (afl).

so who's really hurt at the end? not the ufc.

Yeah, not only that, but fans finally knew the truth when Rampage whipped Liddell's ass in the rematch in the UFC.
