They're all completely different types of directors.

Probably a better way of phrasing it is who outta these is your favorite.

Btw, why isn't Scorsese in here?

subjective question... it all comes down to personal preference...

i like kubrick the most strictly because his vision is the most cinematic among the choices here IMO...

when quentin did pulp fiction and its non linear narrative, i thought he was the best, most original among the newer generation of filmmakers, but then nolan comes along and makes memento with it's narrative going exactly backwards... so that, with better consistency in terms of quality output i'll take nolan...

james cameron is very mainstream... and has not been very original post T2...

as a writer and director, i will take the better cameron over him anytime... cameron crowe that is...

              Nice thread.

Nolan, Scorsese, Kubrick all way, way up there. The three of them have produced about 20 great films between them. (Inception, TDK, Memento,The Prestige, Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Departed, Gangs, Casino, Mean Streets, 2001, Paths of Glory, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket.........)

Tarantino has created some excellent stories but his skills as a director do not match the three above.

(James Cameron). Doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same thread. A money-grabbing, attention seeking genuine a$$hole who is almost single-handedly ruining the film industry.

i think the only guy who can match kubrick in terms of cinematic vision is ridley scott...

kubrick though, is the better storyteller...

                JMO...

Scorsese and Kubrick made most of the best movies between those directors IMO.
