  • Comments Thread For: Arum Hopes To Mesh With HBO Sports' New President

Bob Arum can only hope he has a better working relationship with the incoming president of HBO Sports than he had with the man who previously held the position.

What the new Pres should do is this:

After the Pac/JMM bout, approach all the parties involved. Floyd, Pac, Arum, GBP, and Al Haymon. Tell them that if a Pac/Floyd deal isnt finalized by early 2012, then they will have to independently carry thier own fights on ppv. No more support from HBO.

Excellent idea. . . Arum can carry his own PPV's; he might be stubborn, and try to front at first, but no way he wants to completely sever ties and relations with HBO Mayweather, however, doesn't have the money like that to throw down upfront, nor the intelligence or man-power to arrange his own PPV's. . .
So that will be forced to fight Manny FINALLY. . . Lol, no more of this "if you da best, take the test" bullshyt. . . testing has been agreed too. . . mayweather is just bytching. . . LOL for the past two years it's been something like this: Floyd - if you da best take the test. Manny - Ok, fine, whatever arrangements you want; let's get this fight on! Floyd - If you da best, take da test! Manny - ok. fine. lets make it happen. Floyd - IF U DA BEST! TAKE DA TEST! Manny - WTF?! Ill take the damn tests you bytch made, female beating hoe-cake!!!. . .

although this really good thing to do, and I already hoped that they have already done this during the first negotiation, but now I dont think it will really work as their is "showtime" that can take PAC & Floyd separately plus not to mention HBO did not like it when PAC moved out of HBO for one fight, they would not like to loose the business both fighters still brings home the bacon...

Showtime loves this idea. They would send Hershman first class tickets to and from Las Vegas, front row seats to all of Pacquiao and Mayweather's fights, bottles of champagne, chocalte covered strawberries, Hallmark cards with lipstick prints and personal messages; the VIP treatment.

Sorry to burst everyopne's bubble, but at this point, no one network is forcing the Pacquiao or Mayweather to fight.

It has to be a joint effort because if HBO does it, they'll go to Showtime; if Showtime does it too, they'll go independent; and there are plenty of investors willing to take the risk of putting money upfront, if Mayweather and GBO won't do it themselves (we're talking about PPV fights that average more than opening weekends (and even weeks) of Blockbuster films). So even the distributors of PPV and cable/dish networks would have to in on the scheme.

at Mayweather not having the money or intelligence to take his fights independent.

Wouldn't they just turn to Showtime though?
