Socialism is great in theory, trouble is most are far-left liberals who water down everything so most times you end up with rights for minorities and non for the indeginous population. Crime rises as they do not believe in punishment.
In the uk you cant even smack your child without getting looks and threats.
Socialism is fine when not in the hands of the ubber left.

Fuk Socialism......
Even though I think there can be "socialized" programs to help people in need and not necessarily compromise the capitalistic system we live in and benefit from.

The trouble with socialism is that it is tremendously expensive to implement and by its nature it stifles fiscal creativity so it is left with insufficient financial means to pay for it.

Further, Cuba was always a very poor country even before the revolution, with very little resources. In order for them to fully grow they need assistance from their allies. The collapse of the Soviet Union was a big blow, as they relied heavily on them for support and to trade their resources such as sugar.
Besides all of those huge obstacles, Cuba for the most part has been very successful, one of the ONLY latin american countries where the standard of living has improved over the last 50 years (the vast majority of latin america the standard of living has dropped dramatically due to free trade, capitalism, exploitation by rich wealthy countries (mainly the US), restrictions on growth to do the IMF & World Bank, etc.). Cuba has free healthcare, free education (all the way to college level), more doctors per capita than any nation on the planet, free housing and virtually zero homeless people, the lowest level of HIV infected per capita, etc. etc. etc.Last edited by ИATAS; 05-22-2009, 12:01 PM.
