  • SO.. Is the talent in boxing today any worse since UFC took off?

I'd say NO. We have so many tremendous fighters today. Mayweather, Rigondeaux, Ward, Gonzales, Lomachenko, Golovkin, Kovalev, Crawford, Lara, Canelo, Frampton, Klitschko, Inoue, Brook, DeGale, Walters, Andrade.

Young guys about to burst through

Spence, Verdejo, Joshua, Imam, Gomez etc!

    2005 Ring P4p List
    1.Floyd Mayweather Jr.
    2.Ronald (Winky) Wright
    3.Marco Antonio Barrera
    4.Ricky Hatton
    5.Manny Pacquiao
    6.Erik Morales
    7.Juan Manuel Marquez
    8.Rafael Marquez
    9.Jose Luis Castillo
    10.Zab Judah

    There is no crossover.

MMA taps into the grappling talent pool, mostly from wrestling. Also, all the gyms that sprung up were glorified Mcdojos in the suburbs.

No if anything it helped. MMA interest has helped some boxing gyms stay open with MMA guys wanting a place to train, also to learn striking. Additionally it's created more sparring partners.

I feel that it actually has hurt, since there are much more MMA gyms available than their boxing gyms. Also there are many more local small.cards for fighters than there is for boxing cards.

Kids don't have patience anymore. Seems the MMA circuit is quicker than boxing for obvious reasons.

I don't enjoy MMA at all but this is what I've noticed.

If Manny Pacquaio and Floyd mayweather are todays top welters yes it's a bad ERA take a look at the 80's 90's Tommy Hearns, Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Terry Norris, Gerald Mcleam Julian Jackson Julio Ceasr Chavez, Tito Trinidad Yes all these guys here would beat Mayweather and Pacquaio with ease I named a few Jr middles cause Floyd hold the 152 pound title. Mclean was a Jr Middle at first when he knocked out Julian Jackson or If Im wrong let me know

UFC is ****. It was never going to overtake boxing, and the people who said that were delusional.

Boxers make many times more money. If a guy was a good boxer and he wanted to turn pro he would go where the money is. I doubt MMA has cost boxing even one potentially good boxer.

Why all these dumb MMA threads? MMA is for guys who are afraid to box, the end.

Boxing is more global than MMA. MMA draws its talent mostly from America and Brazil. Boxing from all over the world
