Really loved watching him fight. Such a wasted talent. Him vs GGG would have been amazing as Pirog kind of had GGG's gliding smooth footwork that got him in position to throw nice punches.
He reinjured his back while training for the Golovkin fight, has never recovered. He basically has a career ending back injury. He keeps trying but it doesn't hold, sadly he's done.
A lot of people forget it was supposed to have been Golovkin vs Pirog, that was the scheduled HBO fight, but Dmitry got hurt and then #10 ranked Proksa stepped in on somewhat short notice. What an awesome fight that would have been. Two very fun and interesting styles, a real cool matchup. I think Golovkin would have stopped him late, but it would have been a fascinating match to watch.

Pirog used the same "shifting" technique that GGG uses to cut distance and add power to his punches moving in. Check out this video on GGG. They also mention Pirog at about 11.40.
I think he went on to do some acting in his home country, and then he became some kind of regional politician, which is just another form of acting really
