Theyre not fighting eachother unfortunately, so we get what we can get. And Ortiz is a cooler opponent than Pacs post cotto fights imo.
I wanted Pac to fight Ortiz but he didnt.
I don't recall Manny giving an interview where he was just challenged face to face by another fighter and saying he won't fight him because hes only looking for fights to move up levels.

So, what is your point? You have none.

Ortiz has been knocked out before though. Isn't that one of Floyds reasons for dismissing a Pacquiao fight, because he won't get credit for beating Manny since he was already knocked out?

Did Ortiz KO loss somehow get erased?

Firstly, he fought Genero Hernandez 18 fights into his pro career. Secondly, Genero had not lost in 3 yrs and was on a 6 fight losing streak. His only other lost was to ODLH, so kill that noise.

How about we stop this nonesense about FMJ fighting so many smaller fighters, shall we? Anything about 130, he was almost always the smaller man(many times much smaller)

        Corrales 130/146 FMJ 130/136.5
        Castillo 134.5/149.5 FMJ 134/138
        Castillo II 135/147 FMJ 134/138
        Ndou 134.5/147 FMJ 135/140
        Corley 140/144 FMJ 140/145
        Bruseles 138.75/150 FMJ 139/142
        Gatti 140(Prev FNW ??) FMJ 139 (Prev FNW 142)
        Mitchell 145.25/155 FMJ 147/148
        Baldomir 147/162 FMJ 146/149
        Judah 145.5 150 FMJr 146/ 146
        Hatton 145(prev FNW)149 FMJ 147(Prev FNW@WW)149
        Delahoya was waaay bigger!
JMM 144/ FMJ 146(the ONLY fight, he is substantially bigger)
        Mosely 147?? FMJ 146/??
        Ortiz's prev weights 146/161

Ortiz is a lot bigger than FMJ too.

          Ortiz's prev weights 146/161

Ortiz is a lot bigger than FMJ too.
Robert Apodaca- so bummy, doesn't even have a record listed. Where did they find this guy? Skid row? A bit more research finds that RA, the only RA that Floyd could beat on, was in his very first fight at the time he faced Floyd.
Weights: Mayweather 131 lbs., Apodaca 130 lbs.
          SO-smaller opponent

Reggie Sanders- world beater with a 1-1 record. I think he beat Leon Spinks.
Weights: Mayweather 131 lbs., Sanders 132.5 lbs.

Jerry Cooper - 6-3. a step up, but again, as with the two previous champions Floyd faced, it was against smaller men.
Weights: Mayweather 130 lbs, Cooper 129.5 lbs
          ASO-another smaller opponent

Edgar Ayala - another Skid Row Promotions brawler with no record listed. Further research reveals this was his very first fight as well. I think this is the first fight to give a sign of what happens when Floyd steps up his competition. It gets a bit rough, so he lowers the standard for his next opponent, in this case, Edgar Ayala.
*its been said Ayala was picked because he was a good draw with the LA underpass crowd.

Weights: Mayweather 133 lbs, Ayala 131 lbs
          ASO

Kino Rodriguez - This tall guy at 5 feet five and half inches came into the ring as Floyds most regarded and experienced opponent.

9-9-2 with 3 coming by stoppage or KO.

          Weights: Mayweather 132 Rodriguez 130.
          ASO

Bobby Giepert - Floyd, feeling invincible after defeating the Kong-like Kino, steps up in talent opposition again to take on the like sized Bobbo with a record of 19-8 (6 losses by KO at that time).

Weights: Mayweather 132 lbs, Giepert 133 lbs

*lets give a handclap here folks, he fought someone who finally wasn't smaller.

Tony Duran - The amazing 12-15 Tony Duran. Amazing in that up to that point, 12 fights ended by stoppage or KO, of Duran, not for!
          Weights: Mayweather 129 Duran 133

          * we like this, Floyd fighting guys similar in stature. Way to go big boy!

Larry O'shields - all five foot 6 of him with his gaudy and flamboyant record of 12-3-1 with 5 KOs, by him. Floyd getting a bit braver by the fight!
          Weights: Mayweather 132 O'shields 131.75
          ASO

Jesus Chavez - before you soil your chonies with seminal residue, let me remind you, not that Jesus Chavez, but the 1-13-1 Jesus Chavez. Did I mention that 11 of those 13 losses were by KO or stoppage?
1-13-1. In case you were wondering, Chavez stood a Godzilla-like 5 foot 5. Well, only if you had the toy.

          Weights: Mayweather 130.5 Chavez 130
          ASO

Louie Leija - Floyd steps it up big time, in a big way. Slaying the like sized Leija in 2 rounds knocking him down a few times. Heres the downer, and its totally not unlike Floyd,
but this was after Louie had just suffered a KO loss in his previous fight. Starting to notice some patterns developing. Floyd for some reason, can't stand latino fighters.
          Weights: Mayweather 131 Leija 132

Felipe Garcia - The "Sears Tower" in boxing, standing in at a whopping 62 inches, here you have an opponent who was 20-18 at the time, but had been the loser in 10 of his previous 13 fights. It took Floyd 6 rounds to KO the midget in denial.

          Weights: Mayweather 133.5 Garcia 130
          ASO

Angelo Nunez - Finally, a bigger fighter, but, one who had lost his previous 3 fights.
          Weights: Mayweather 130 Nunez 133

Shall I continue with another year of beating world champs and bigger men?

Being in a FOTY means squat.

Andre Berto being number 2 in a division that has fizzled out since 2006-2008, is not impressive.

Why would u all argue with mr self ownage right there??

You mean the fully fleged Lightweight that Mayweather fought for his first fight there who outweighed Floyd by over 10 Lbs? That smaller guy?

                  Another tune-up.

Oh well. At least he's back. Or is he? Is this fight finalized?

If you're not happy with Floyd fighting Maidana's left overs..then why do you want Floyd to fight Morales's, Torrecamp's, and some other Asian dude's left overs? Do you have a crush on him or something?

                      Put it like this.

Ortiz himself is better than ALL 4 of Pacquiaos old opponents.

Clottely - a bigger joke than Ortiz, wasn't even on the top 5 P4P, he was number 9.

Margarito - a cheater, slow, coming of a tremendous career lost against Mosley, regardless of that little unknowm warm-up match he had.

Miguel Cotto - not the same guy, after THOR (Margarito) wore him out with those bricks.

Shane Mosley - The same guy that Pacquiao fans called old, and said that Floyd was picking on a old man, the same guy that FREDDIE ROACH called old.
The same guy who had problems with a B-Class fighter Mora.
