Think about it for a moment; of the assumed $800m that Floyd ended up making in career purses, $700m of that likely came from after the De La Hoya fight. You figure taxes, Haymon's share, camp expenses, etc and Floyd likely cleared $300m-$400m from his fights.

Beyond that, Floyd didn't say he had $1.2B; he said that he had a real estate holdings portfolio worth $1.2B (with New York property holdings giving him some pride).

Ignoring any of the money that Floyd made before the ODLH fight (which was basically used to build his Vegas home, as the 'Big Boy Mansion' was already built, furnished, etc; my assumption is that his LA home and Miami home were already in hand), you've literally got a decade of time to build equity with $300m-$400m (and that's assuming that the TMT brand, Mayweather Boxing Club, Mayweather Promotions, and any other Floyd ventures didn't provide any other revenues to Floyd).

With the real estate market cratering 2006/2007, imagine the amount of money someone could've made if they bet $1m on real estate at the lows; Floyd, from just 2006-2007 alone, Floyd had $30m-$40m to ponder working with.

Whether the final number actually ended up being $1.2B is for Floyd to know; to argue as if someone couldn't have gotten to that point in real estate when having $300m-$400m to work with, over a decade of time, is silly.

I can believe it. You need money to make money. If Floyd surrounds himself with smart people then he could definitely turn his riches into fortune. Look what Magic Johnson did with far less money.

It's possible Floyd controls 1.2 billion in real estate. He doesn't have anything near that invested, but he doesn't have to. A small time investor might have three investment homes with a total value of 750k, but have only 150k invested. He could rightfully say he's "sitting on" 750k in real estate.

This "Floyd Mayweather" business school sucks.

It's a school that started Boxing's Cold War.

It's a school that perfected the cherry pick - the art of not fighting the most dangerous fighter, but the fighter that makes the most money.

Everyone is trying to be Mayweather, but no one wants to be Ali.
Floyd Mayweather gaeve every fighter to follow him the template of what a fighter can achieve if they commit their lives to the sport of boxing and look after their own business affairs.

People romanticize Muhammad Ali far more then makes sense.

Remove the nostalgia what was Ali really? An Olympic gold medalist, who won the heavyweight title, was villified for his allegiance with the Nation of Islam, loss the prime years of his career to a suspension, returned the sport, withstood a beating to touch greatness one final time, and then had the fight literally beat out of him before the sport retired him.

Who really truly wants to be Ali?

Not that Floyd is one of them, but there are people that would be way up at the top of the Forbes list who are smart enough to conceal their wealth to the point they're not even on the radar.

Possible! Not sure why fans are worried about it, not like he is going to give any of us some of that.

A lot of Mayweather threads today, I guess it is a good way to Deflect and get people off of talking about Canelo Ducking GGG

Who wants to be Martin Luther King, Malcolm X or Maximus Decimus Meridius? They're all dead, but at least they stood for something.

Ali has poor health, but he stood for something that will be remembered for thousands of years to come.

He was one of the key players in the civil rights movement. He wanted to do so much for his people. He loved his people. He tried to set the example for his people. Sometimes life is measured by more than how much money did you make in your profession.

Ali negotiated to free 15 US hostages in Iraq. Can you imagine Floyd Mayweather negotiating the liberation of hostages with a foreign country today? Of course not.

Mayweather doesn't give a damn about his people. He makes sure Porshe, Gucci, Versace and Bentley are paid though. Oh yeah and before it's time for him to fight during one of the 24/7 shows, he makes it a point for the cameras to get him on camera giving out Turkey's.

As a ring technician, Floyd is definitely one of the top skilled fighters of all time. But in all other categories, Floyd couldn't hold Ali's jock strap.

If we're talking about intelligence, listen to a serious Ali interview from the 70's, then listen to Floyd going blackface every chance he gets. There's no comparison.

Ali was more influential no doubt
