Cormier was clearly the best after Jones, he proved it by beating Johnson. Who else should have fought for the title? Gus just lost v Johnson. LOL at Rampage being brought up, the dude is WAY past his best...hell he is lucky he got a GIFT decision v King Mo in Bellator, most people were happy that he won that purely because of how boring King Mo is in the cage.

Bader? Come on man. Rashad? He hasn't fought since 2013 vs a Sonnen who was in the wrong weight class, old and was in hospital a few days before...oh and Rashad put on the worst performance of his life v Lil Nog just before that.

205 is a terrible division right now, extremely top heavy.

I agree. Beating Gus or Rumble means nothing since they're coming off losses.

If he wants to convince the UFC that's he's worthy of a title shot, Bader needs a big win over a young, prime and hungry top contender, and Tito is the man to beat!

155 like Kaps mentioned, but 185 is right behind.

And 170 has been real interesting since GSP left. Should be even more fun now that Condit is back.

205 has 3 top guys, and there is a huge gap of talent between them and the rest of the division. And two of them already lost to Jones. There was a reason why Jones was talking about potential moving up to heavyweight.

I'm sure even Bones was getting bored of the light heavyweight division, before he ****ed up.

UFC has been clearly declining massively, ppv buys have gone down consistently and their running out of big names! Lesnar, GSP, Anderson, Chael all gone in the last few years!! Rampage is no longer a draw, Tito Ortiz is gone, Liddell retired.

Not to mention the biggest names left like Velasquez, Overeem fight once a year max!!!

The big names are Ronda Rousey, Conor McGregor and Jon Jones now. Overeem was big before but since being popped for roids, he lost a lot of momentum due to a number of reasons. Cain isn't a big name at all, barely anyone knows him which is a shame because he is a MACHINE when fit. He's probably past his best due to age and injuries right now despite only fighting 14 times.

They've been in decline since 2010 due to:

too many cards coming on that no one cares about.
the old school 205 legends retiring (washed up in Rampages case)
GSP, Brock retiring and Silva getting beat
UFC being a U.S focused promotion that ventures out of the U.S but not often enough. Look at Boxing, they have big fights abroad all the time. Do you think going to Japan once a year is going to kickstart MMA there for e.g?
The new guys just are as appealing or different, look at the old legends and big names they all had very unique looks, personas and styles.

Great points. TO be honest I stopped watching after GSP left and Silva got KOed.

PPV No.s and gates show clearly UFC is on a MAJOR decline over the past 3 years. I wouldnt go as far as saying dying because its now household and not going anywhere but it is simply doing horrible numbers in the last few years. GSP use to average 700k buys, brock used to average 1mill+, silva averaged 600k. Nobody in the sport is even coming close to cracking that(including ronda)

Does the UFC have any stars at all left with the supposed downing of Ronda Rousey?

In the last three years we've seen the UFC lose GSP, Chuck Liddell, Brock Lesnar, Chael Sonnen, Randy Couture, Rampage Jackson, Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, Forrest Griffin, BJ Penn, and now their second last major star looks like she might be on a serious decline Ronda Rousey.

If Jose Aldo smashes McGregor and he also disappears to no-mans land, the UFC is never going to sniff over 500k buys for a very very long time

Then maybe they'll learn to stop overhyping people until they're reigning champions, like GSP and Silva were. Liddell left about 5 years ago, by the way and Lesnar about 4. And he might not get the PPV buys, but if Chris Weidman has a few more title defenses, he'll probably be more heavily promoted and Jon Jones is on the way back and is only 29.

**** man thats how the business works, you make stars, you lose stars, you make new stars. Its a constant cycle. If the best fought the best in boxing more often you'd see a similar thing happening there, but due to boxers controlling who they fight or more accurately who they don't fight til they want to it helps them build up their star-ness more so they don't rise & fall quite like they do in the UFC. Granted some MMA guys last longer, GSP & Silva being maybe the top two for examples, but thats about them more than the UFC.
