  • If you were allowed two fantasy match ups who would you pick

Anthony thank you for your post in the other thread...it got me thinking. I am sure we have had a few threads about A fantasy match up, if you could pick...well lets make life interesting, if you could have any four fighters in two fantasy matchups fight who would you pick?

Any two match ups from any time period are allowed, explain why these match up is so intruging to you and...if you want, who you think would win.

    1) hagler vs Jones. Wow...What Toney as a more pure boxer puncher could not do, Hagler presumably would...pressure Roy Jones and make him fight. In this fight I am taking a coward's way out via predicition: 12 rounds it would go to Jones, 15 to Hagler... Or Hagler catches junior for the kayou. This would be a barn burner... NO angles, no backing up for Hagler, with a beard of steel Jones cant just lay a hook and a feint now and then... Does junior have the power to keep Hagler honest? Toney wasn't at his best allegedly, for this match up both guys are at their best. Lol I don't really think Junior would win in 12, so much as possibly avoid Hagler and chipshot enough to squeak a decision.

    2) Whitaker against floyd Mayweather. This fight would be a real chess match. Could Sweet pea beat the other mayweather? Could he make floyd, with his arrow straight punches miss? Would love to see these gys prime at a weight class that was the best for each. I don't know who wins...

Some really fantastic match ups...Foster Spinks wow! Gonzales and Zarate. Dempsey would probably do really well to start against Marciano, but as he weathered the storm that would be one war of attrition!

Sven Ottke against any boxer in history....with the caveat that Ott is allowed his German referee. I could see it now in my minds eye: "And sugar ray lets a combo fly staggering ottke as the ref steps in and penalized Robinson for hitting to the face...equal round due to the penalty."

I tend to lean towards contests that could of been but never were, they tend to have a greater degree of intrigue as the possibility was there, but here's my totally fantasy match-ups.

Harry Greb vs. Sam Langford with a 165lb limit.

Similar height and reach, completely different builds and styles.

How would Langford fare sticking to a particular weight as he often fought larger men and trained upwards.

Greb was only stopped once, early in his career by a bigger man, when Langford landed, depending on consistency could he stand up to it?

Alexis Arguello vs. Erik Morales with a 126lb limit.

Any fight with either of those two I'd watch, against each other I would expect a war until Arguello cracks Morales chin and if he doesn't, rematch.

                  James Toney - Bernard Hopkins
                  Pernell Whitaker - Roberto Duran
                  Salvador Sanchez - Alexis Arguello
                  Lewis - Bowe
                  I think.
