A gun is a weapon that takes life. It represents power and should be respected. It's not something that should be in the hands of something that can understand neither power nor responsibility.

but the majority of us are very responsible with our firearms
The very slight majority, according to most independent statistics.

These are instruments of death, even 10% of owners neglecting to properly secure them in a household occupied by children is too much. Though 10% would be a godsend compared to most of the statistics I've seen on the matter.

That kid is way too little to be taught that. The kid is too young to understand what a gun does. What if the kid gets a hold of a loaded gun? Sounds like a huge accident waiting to happen.

          2 years old?

I couldn't even probably shit my chonies right.

Can't buy the kid a X-box or Playstation?

I just don't get this thing with toddlers, children, and firearms.

Hey Bro. Little Bo Duke can't even color in between the lines yet. Hand him the Ruger.

I taught my older daughter at the age of thirteen but not just to shoot but to respect a firearm

I have a four year old and he's too young but eventually he will learn the fundamentals
At least you can answer your own question.

Agreed. Educate them while they're young.

But..the kid is a little TOO young for IMO...

Then again I'm told that when i was like 3-4 they'd let me and my little cousins fight with gloves and I started boxing at 6-7 years old. >__>... Soo.... Least hes not getting punched they'd say lol
