  • Relaxing the shoulders.

    I'm naturally quite a stiff, tense person and this impacts negatively on my speed. If I 'flop' my shoulders so my hands hang a bit lower my punching speed picks up noticeably and I land many more shots. The flipside is (of course) that I am much more exposed.

    Obviously there needs to be some tension in the arms and shoulders to raise your hands up to your chin, but has anyone got any tips that would help minimise the negative effect that tensing the arms/shoulders has on my speed?
