I liked Donaire already, but If he fights Rigo again the kid officially has balls of steel.

So his promotional outfit would do what they had to do protect him. Arce and Nishioka were showcase fights, two shorter, past it opponents. The only reason they matched him with Rigondeaux after that is because they felt that Rigondeaux was just another smaller opponent, that Donaire would overpower. Recall Donaire was somewhat protected at bantamweight also. He didn't face any of the five best guys there, Montiel was solid, but Montiel, Sydorenko, and Narvaez, were much shorter, and weren't better than the Bantam Tourney guys or Moreno. Arce, and Nishioka was also shorter and smaller looking than Donaire in the ring.

As far as Walters being much bigger? That puzzles me. Donaire has been the bigger man in the ring much of his career, yet HBO and Donaire apologists keep using that excuse. Walters was one inch taller, and had five pounds on him in the ring, so what, if you got the skill you got the skill. Mathebula, was several inches taller, and heavier in the ring as well. Likewise Donaire had at least three inches, and 10+ pounds on Rigondeaux. Donaire also had three inches on Montiel, four on Sydorenko, two or three on Arce etc. Not sure why Walters being an inch bigger and five pounds heavier is part of an excuse. Donaire wanted to move up to featherweight. Walters was average size for a featherweight at 5'7. If you look at the top 20 or so featherweights, he is about mid range in height. So quit with the size excuses, and hope Donaire gets back to the gym, gets in shape, and gets his old work ethic back.

Walters re-hydrated up to 145 lbs one time and can't even make 126 anymore , he's far from being an average size FW . ( there's much more to size than height )
And who's making excuses ? i was making the point that someone ducking challengers would've never faced Walters .

it's astonishing how this guy faces two of the most avoided and ducked champions in the sport, yet he's still met with skepticism and cynical fans .

Donaire moved up to 122 in early 2012 , fought Rigo in early 2013 . is that what you call " ducking for years " ? so what if he fought a couple tune ups before taking on Guillermo ? who can blame him for taking a seven figure payday to fight Arce ?
And lol at Mares .... not only he got exposed and was a never a bad stylistic match up for Donaire, he was actually with Golden boy during the period when they didn't do business with Arum ..

seriously , the guy is the only name opponent to risk everything and take on Rigo , yet people still hate on him . scared of a challenge ? fighting Rigo and the much bigger walters is being scared of challenges ? calling out Frampton , Quigg, and even Rigo for a rematch constitute ducking all the legitimate contenders ? GTFO with that **** .
Donaire is terrible and weak and a fraud. Destroyed by better fighters little slimy Donaire is nothing now hand picking winnable easy fights. Donaire is not a top fighter. Go fight Lomo then if Donaire has any balls above pea size.

Lol Mares, who else fought Rigo? Such non sense from your post.
Donaire is now a loser exposed as a weak fraud with a soft make up bordering on feminine. Walters and Rigo exposed Donaire as an average soft wimpy kid with little ability. Hiding from Mares for years was comical and destroyed Donaire's image way before Rigo destroyed and humilaited little Donaire.

He didn't make weight for his fight with Marriaga, but that was post Donaire chop down, and has no bearing on the Donaire fight. Walters made weight for Donaire, and rehydrated up to a weight that other featherweights have rehydrated up to and not been called giant. off the top of the head Lomachenko, and Russell jr. come to mind. I specifically pointed out that Walters had five pounds on Donaire in the ring. Not sure why you ignored that. I also pointed out the irony in Donaire apologists trying to turn Walters into a 5'11 150 pound featherweight, when Donaire had three inches, and 12-17 pounds on Rigondeaux when they fought at 122. Donaire was often bigger than his smaller opponents at 112, 115, and 118. Nobody made excuses about size. Walters would have KO'd Donaire if they were the same height and weight in the ring that night, because Donaire doesn't have the skill or boxing IQ to beat a decently skilled guy that is his size, that he can't KO.

As far as the excuses of Walters being a giant featherweight.

              Walters 5'7
              Santa Cruz 5'7 1/2 to 5'8
              Selby 5'8 1/2 to 5'9
              Vetyeka 5'7 1/2
Lomachenko 5'7 Weighed 138 in ring against Russell Jr.,
              Sonjica 5'7
              Hosono 5'7
              Komanisi 5'9
              Warrington 5'7
Gradovich 5'8 Weighed 140 in ring against Velez
              Amagasa 5'10 1/2
Velez 5'8 1/2 Weighed 138 in ring against Gradovich
