If the commission approves of the equipment, then you should be able to choose whatever you want. Should Lebron james tell Kevin Durant what sneakers to wear, or should pitchers tell batters what bat they could use in baseball?
Boxing is different; there's no centralized power like the sports you just mentioned. Even MMA there's stricter rules. Boxing is a free-for-all.

Maidana will be forced to wear 20 oz Gloves.

Floyd will likely have the option to wear no gloves.

Mayweather dictates everything, from the gloves to the size of the ring.

Absolutely. Fraud wouldn't have it any other way.

Midget face can put bricks on his hands, he will still lose.

So what if an entire NBA team agreed to dictate the equipment of the other team? The other sports dont work on contracts, are they all free agents? Fine what if golfers got to choose what clubs or balls the other golfer could use, NASCAR drivers what cars they can use, skiers what skis they can use? All of this sounds absurd, meanwhile in boxings you can control every aspect of everything, even pick the ref and officials. Its ridiculous

I understand that, and thats what makes it ridiculous. Can you imagine if you were allowed to dictate how tall the hoop is in basketball like you are allowed ring size?

                MMA is even worse

Doesn't matter, IMO. Maidana is a puncher no matter what. Sledgehammers in both hands.

Mayweather chose Victor Ortiz' gloves for him. Ortiz normally wears Cleto Reyes puncher's glove.
lol.. first of all grants are punchers gloves, reyes was the ultimate punchers glove and then grants were second. the puffy gloves you are thinking of are probably winning. everlast came out with a punchers version of their gloves which is more similar to the grants than anything else.

as for this whole ******ed thread and people claiming floyd wants 18oz and all types of ****.. let me just remind you floyd was in an argument over the size of the gloves for one of his fights (cotto), in which floyd was the one requesting the smaller gloves.

naturally people turned it against him and said floyd was trying to gain an advantage. i pointed out what hypocrites they were being, saying they would be all over floyd if he was the one asking for bigger gloves, he asks for smaller ones and people still criticize him and not cotto.

here we are a few years later and the one wanting big gloves is not surprisingly the soft one. people are plain making **** up about floyd wanting smaller gloves in order to criticize him when in reality he lobbied for the opposite not long ago.

you got to keep track of your flame threads children, you are making yourselves look even more stupid than usual.

Floyd should be able to choose what ever he wants ball in his court. When floyd faught Oscar, Oscar chose everything and floyd had no choice.

None of what you suggested would ever happen, so yea, it sounds (and is) absurd. And the individual sports that you mention are sports where they are competing against the "field" and not against just one person/athlete. Therefore, dictating to "field" about what they can wear and can't, just will not happen.

I actually think it's silly that this is even a discussion. This is boxing. All kind of things are in contracts that are agreed upon by both fighters. I just think the "outcry" of this thread is based of who is involved. It's really not a big deal if MM will be "forced" to wear Grants or not.
