That 4.2 figure is a complete lie.

Are you telling the average world cup game has 87 million viewers while Manchester/Barcelona only has 100 million viewers. That is completely outrageous
You have been proved wrong so now you are saying it is lies.

Yes, those figures are inflated. Common sense would tell you that

Are you telling average RWC game is on par with the Uefa Champions League final

American football they use pads because they actually hit every play, and the name of the game is to hit as hard as possible. How many of you guys have actually played American football? If you have'nt then you should'nt be talking about something you've never done. Same with with rugby, if you ain't played it you should'nt be talking **** either.
Exactly. The whole point of American football is to knock the **** out of the opponent. That's why Americans watch it: For the violent collisions. If you took the hitting out it you'd see a massive decline in the sport's popularity. American's like sports with violent hitting.....pure and simple.

That's what the numbers indicate, what do Mayweather fans say? Oh yeah, numbers don't lie.

edit: The superbowl matches the Man Utd vs Barcelona game and that is a much less watched sport than soccer, so why can't rugby do the same?

Obvious you didn't read this article. Even FIFA admitted to inflating and exaggerating the numbers. What do you think the RWC would do?

HBO is a listed company and it must disclose it revenue since it's a listed company on the stock exchange

Again, population indicates NFL is played more and watched more

              Simple really

The NFL Superbowl is the most advertised event on the planet. Even UEFA were seeking assisted in marketing strategy

Think logically. Man Utd has more fans in the world than any rugby nation same applies to Barcelona. They got 100 million viewers only. Yet the average match of RWC is 87 million is ludicrous

The numbers for the Superbowl are inflated too then.

How does counting the population tell you how many watch a sport? and you are not counting all the countries that watch, stop being ignorant, you are making yourself look stupid.

I'm finished here, the only numbers we got show rugby as the most watched.

Most sporting event numbers are inflated since their isn't a sporting body that audits them

                    Of course population matters.

The NFL is on prime time in America and has a strong support base. Rugby doesn't. When the RWC was on in France, it was night in Asia region and early morning in the South and North America. Thus affecting their viewership

I would suggest more people do play NFL than Rugby. Rugby is big and play routinely is a certain countries(Former British colonies mainly) and all those serious rugby nations population doesn't come close to America
