There haven't been too many linear welterweight champions in the past 30 years.

Curry's whole reign lasted 3½ years with 7 defenses of his title and unified 3 belts. I guess he'd only be recognized as the lineal champ after his KO win over Milton McCrory.

If you go a few years backwards you'd have Carlos Palomino's reign, which lasted nearly 3 years with 7 defenses and Jose Napoles's second reign which lasted 4 years with 10 defenses.

Yeah but the facts tell nothing. Nothing. It's a list of lineal champs - which is almost as BS as belts since all the lineal champ has to do is avoid the good fighters in the division then move elsewhere. How valid is that reign?

That's right. You could also recognize Oscar De La Hoya as the lineal champ since his win over Whitaker.

Curry lost to Honeyghan, who lost to Starling, who lost to Blocker, who lost to Brown (also a unification bout), who lost to McGirt, who lost to Whitaker, who lost to De La Hoya.

Whitaker's defenses= Chavez, Cardona, McGirt, Jacobs, Rodriguez, Rivera (2x), and Hurtado.

De La Hoya's defenses= Kamau, Camacho, Rivera, Charpentier, Chavez, Quartey, Carr.
