  • Al Haymon The Saviour of Boxing

Say what you want about Al but there's one thing he's doing which makes him a pioneer and hero of boxing: bringing it back to the mainstream

I've watched two PBC events now, the latest being the Garcia card and I have to say, I am impressed. The presentation is stellar, commentators could be a bit more colourful, the camera angles are way superior to HBO and Showtime. They give you a real inside look at the action as it unfolds.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. I think he's good for boxing. He's picking boxers with real potential and putting them against some solid opponents, obviously not world class, but isn't that how all boxers start out?

So far, I've watched two PBC events and they are miles ahead of HBO and Showtime in terms of action and objective analysis - none of that one sided commentary you get from Lampley and his minions. There's something different in the way PBC do things, it seems like they have recognised the main gripes about current boxing fights and catered for an audience that appreciates action over hype.

I see PBC as becoming the legitimate go to for fighters in a similar vain as the UFC. There's no sinister motives as everyone claims. Don't listen to the cynics. Haymon is an absolute godsend to boxing.

Another hagiographic thread about comrade Haymon and the multilaterally developed socialist boxing society.

They put on just as many good fights as HBO does.

                Garcia vs Guerrero.
                Thurman vs Guerrero.
                Santa Cruz vs Mares.
                Jacobs vs Quillen.
                Khan vs Algieri
                Fonfara vs Cleverly
                Huck vs Glowacki
                Broner vs Porter
                Garcia vs Peterson
                Dirrell vs DeGaule
                Dirrell vs Jack

Some of you just straight up hate what Haymon is doing. HBO and Showtime have both given us bull**** ass showcase fights through the years. PBC puts on good match ups, as well as giving some good fights. Sure they put bull**** like Spence, or Charlo against the bum of the month, but they give us just as many quality fights as HBO does, and for free.
