Alright.
Some of you old school posters know this story but I figured I would bring it back up in lieu of the Magic Man demolition
Alright here we go.
Back in '09 a poster came on board claiming to be Shawn Porter. We were all calling BS because there are always a ton of Alts, at least back then. Shawn kind of got annoyed at told all of us to come check him out in Tunica, MS because he was fighting at the Fitzgerald Casino.
At the time I was a junior at Mississippi State University. Tunica was about 2-3 hours away. I was broke as **** but I posted in the thread I would scratch some cash together and go check it out to support an up and coming American pro. As soon as I typed it up and went and got a drink, I had a response from Shawn offering free tickets. Keep in mind we were all still really skeptical if this was even Shawn. Shawn says he will leave me two tickets (my roomate and I) at roll call and come and show up.
Here's the post:

So we PM'ed back and forth a couple of times to sure things up but I thought it was someone messing with me on here.
So me and my roommate took the haul and got up to the roll call desk
"Do you have two tickets with (my name)?"
"Um I dont know..."
*someone just f'ed with me big time"
"Oh here you go Mr.(my name)"
BINGO.
Shawn destroys Jerome Ellis in 4.
Shawn comes out of the ring and I go to introduce myself and to tell him how thankful I am for the tickets. The guy has the biggest grin on his face yells at his dad to come over to meet me. We take photos, talk boxing, shake hands, hell we even exchanged numbers in case he came back through Mississippi. Then I got out of his hair to let him enjoy his victory. I even kept up with them for about a year congratulating them on a victory here and there. They always responded with a thank you and some kind words.
Very class people.
I don't keep in touch with them much anymore. Don't want to come off like a glory hunting, money seeker. But Shawn and his Dad are some of the nicest people I have ever met.
Very much deserved victory and could not have happened to better people.
