Heavy Metal and Rock as we know it is because of Black Sabbath and Led Zepplin. There isn't a debate to be had on the subject. Nevertheless, America and Britain are on equal footing in terms of muiscimo

I'd go America just for the blues/jazz alone. Groups like the Stones grew organically out of that, and really, single bands are just a %.

America has done a lot for music, and it's a vast country.

For its size and population, the UK does very well for itself, but it's not really close IMO.

            Wait.... WHAT?

I love "Video Killed the Radio Star" as much as the next guy, but Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, Howlin' Wolf and Sly Stone don't come anywhere near Coldplay?

Put down that crack pipe, son.

When did i mention anything related to that? I only gave my opinion on which of the 2 gave the most contribution to music.

America created some of the genres, but the UK took it to a whole new level.

Don't get me wrong. America produced some ATG musicians, but compared to the UK? no way man.

... which, by definition, is an indirect commentary on the music that America has produced.

But, lest we forget, the following are some of bands which, according to you, would put the likes of the Velvet Underground in the shade:

I could understand if you'd mentioned The Kinks or something. Which is to say nothing of the fact that you cited Talking Heads - an AMERICAN band.
