Lomachenko vs Russell similar to Jacobs vs Pirog?

The Vasya vs Gary fight reminds me of Pirog vs Jacobs. Young "blue chip" prospects going at it. Any who call Russell or Jacobs bums are fools, certainly Russell, these are good, if not very good fighters. It just so happens that they ran into Very good/Great fighters.

Now I am a bit biased towards Pirog and believe he would have schooled Martinez and easily make Golovkin look bad, but there is no denying that Loma is Elite level. Every fight in the pros is going to make him better and better, and that is amazing, we may be looking at a Roy/Floyd level talent here.

Again the important thing to remember here is that Russell is good, just not Loma good, like Hopkins is very good, but not prime Roy good.

i thought the exact same thing. no matter how you 'hand pick opponents', with russells record, he can't be too aweful..
felt pretty upset for him when the whole community started talkin **** about him because he lost.. :/ he's good, just loma's that much better.
i have high hopes for russell. hope he gets a title soon!

Pirog's style was one of the most versatile I've ever seen. I definitely think without his back problems he could have been a very bad fight for Golovkin.

I'm not so convinced with Loma because while he's very good he's more of a specialist. Time will tell if he can look at good as he did against Russell vs rougher dirtier fighters.
