absolutely useless activity. i feel sad for some of these kids who are forced to do this by utterly unbearable parents.

i never understood why a sports channel like espn showed spelling competition.

Absolutely useless? I found studying for the spelling bee greatly increased my child's vocabulary. I agree it's not a sport, but you can't seriously believe playing with balls is a more useful activity than spelling.
