The greatest tragedy of our time is the loss of biodiversity.

Human overpopulation is gradually wiping out most of the other species on the planet, species that took tens of millions of years to evolve.

By the time our numbers peak and then go into a sharp decline at the end of this century, we will have had approximately the same effect on the diversity of life on earth as the comet that hit 65,000,000 years age.

What is it these people are 'experts' at exactly? Speculating without any real evidence to back it up?

You'd have to take the time to actually look into the research before concluding that they are speculating "without any real evidence". What you usually find when you do check the research are phrases like "could indicate that" and "recommend further research". Doesn't make good copy.
