PACQUIAO SIGNS ON THE DOTTED LINE; MAYWEATHER SIGNATURE ALL THAT'S LEFT
    By Ben Thompson | December 05, 2009

According to Dan Rafael of ESPN, pound-for-pound champion Manny Pacquiao has officially signed a contract to face undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. on March 13. Originally, it was reported that both sides had agreed to initial terms, but there were still some wrinkles to be ironed out, including the weight and the size of gloves for the bout. Apparently, those details have been resolved, at least on Pacquiao's side, as the Filipino icon put pen to paper to close his side of the deal.

According to Rafael's source, both camps agreed to a 50/50 split, despite both sides initially demanding more. Of course, with an astounding $80 million purse on the line, it should come as no surprise that both men quickly put their egos aside for an equal share of the bounty. Given that most experts believe that the bout could break the pay-per-view record of 2.44 million buys, there's a good chance that they could earn even more.

As for the weight, although there were initial reports that Team Mayweather wanted the bout to take place at 154 pounds, both fighters will indeed meet at the welterweight limit of 147 pounds for Pacquiao's WBO title. They will also be wearing 8-ounce gloves, as opposed to 10-ounce gloves as initially reported, but both men will be allowed to choose their brand, which likely means Reyes, the traditional "punchers" glove, for Pacquiao and Grant, another "punchers" glove preferred by slick boxers, for Mayweather.

Now that Pacquiao has signed his side of the contract, the only thing left is for Mayweather to finalize the deal with his own John Hancock. It appears the biggest fight of the decade is just one pen stroke away from becoming a reality.

Now that Pac has signed the conract with no hesitation, will Floyd Sign the contract or will he duck Pacquiao like what he did to Cotto, Mosley, Margarito and the rest of WW by making excuses?

All the fighters you mentioned cant beat Floyd. He doesnt duck any of them,it;s just a matter of whether they are marketable or not.Shane-Margarito was a sell out in LA because people paid $25 to get in,people pay thousands to watch Floyd.Do your maths and you will know Floyd wont waste time with such people.Boxing is a sport but a business as well.

Floyd doesnt mind fighting Manny because Manny makes money as well,Hatton was a money fight,Marquez was a strategic move for Floyd to block Manny from fighting Marquez.By beating Marquez the way he did he created expectation, people started comparing.

A Margarito coming off a win over Cotto was a big money fight. When Cotto was undefeated and beat Mosley that was a money fight for Floyd as well. Since he's saying Cotto is not a draw that is why Floyd duck him but now he's saying Pac has a dance partner.. That's Funny!

Yeah Floyd's career turned into Could have Should Have Might Have, Kinda, ?? What else?

This doesn't change the fact that Floyd never fought any of them. The only reason he fought Marquez wasn't because it was a strategic move; he felt Marquez was the only one he can beat handily, and worse, he shortchanged him at the scales.

Floyd is a smart dude so I think he will sign the contract, it would be idiocy if he doesn't.

There isn't any fighter out there who'd give Mayweather a 30-40mil payday. He'd more likely put his "0" on the line just to get 7 "0"s in return.

How can Floyd beat them if he's not fighting them?

Floyd ain't beating no one from those boxers unless he fights them.
