According to his rapidly deteriorating but increasingly delusional fanbase : Whenever he won.

The truth of the matter is that it's impossible for anybody to estimate when a fighter is in their "prime", except of course, for the fighter himself. Only they are truly capable of looking you dead in the eye and telling you which peiod of time in their career it was that they felt most physically fit.

Anything less is merely speculation meant to be taken with a grain of salt.

Let's be honest, though. You can't look at Joe Frazier's career and say, "Well...maybe he peaked when he fought Ali the first time..." or something like that.

I mean, sure, we can only speculate but I'd say that we can't pinpoint a fighter's prime except when he retires.ONLY THEN can you get a panoramic view of his career and say, "THIS was when he was at his best."

From the looks of it, Antonio Margarito's career is either over or on the brink of ending.

If we were to assume there was never any controversy with the handwraps and all that, I'd say Margarito's prime was between 2004-2008 or 2005-2008.

After that, he hasn't been able to get past a decent opponent. Though to be fair, his losses after the Cotto fight have only been against WORLD CLASS opposition.

If it weren't for that permanently damaged eye, I'd still give him a decent chance at beating any of the 154 fighters. Robert García and Laurence Cole thought Margarito was still in the fight and Margarito was still being stubborn as hell when he went into the 11th round against Pacquiao. That fight could've been stopped during the 9th or 10th, nobody would've protested. Those extra rounds he took unnecessary punishment, never mind the inordiante amount he had already taken.

I agree. The Cotto fight killed the primes of both those fighters.

cotto took his prime. shane polished him off and manny made him a zombie. cotto then just bludgeoned the zombie more after manny.

to answer the question though, i'd say his prime was 2006-09.

2003-2006, give or take a year on each side.

When ever he stepped into the ring with plaster. That is why is so hard to determine his prime.

Capetillo has the answer to this question

Yup...worked for Segura making Calderon quit twice. Segura had plaster as well.
