  • Mayweather vs Mosley should be for the Lineal Championship

This Fight is between the current Top Welterweight in the world, Shane Mosley and the 3rd ranked Welterweight Floyd Mayweather.....this fight should be for the Lineal Title......does anybody know when the panel will vote to decide whether this fight should be for the Ring Title?????

this is from the Ring Magazine website

Fighters recognized as champions by The Ring are rated at the top of their division, with the top 10 contenders listed below.

Championship vacancies can be filled by winning a box-off between The Ring's number-one and number-two contenders, or, in certain instances, a box-off between our number-one and number-three contenders.

The only three occasions when a fighter will lose his championship status are when he retires, moves to another weight division, or is defeated in a championship bout.

Mayweather is the lineal champ, even though some people might argue Mosley is. Nobody beat Floyd, so how isn't he the lineal champ? This fight is for the lineage period, but The Ring ****ted on Mosley and made Pacquiao the #1 WW. Therefore, no Ring belt.

Lineal is between #1 and #2. Why would the bronze get a crack at the lineal?

Besides, this fight is to. See who gets the cash cow pacquiao who happens to be #1 p4p

In theory ur right, but once he retired, he technically gave up the lineage. U simply don't come back and reclaim it again. Gotta earn it back.

But I didn't realize ring gave pac #1 ww. Guess it has to do with cheato.

I agree, the rules of the lineal ww title (vacant) requires the #1 and #2 ranked welterweights to fight it off. But the Ring sometimes award their title to 1 vs 3.

If Mosley-Pacquiao pulls through, it will be an ultimate unification.

It should be for the Welterweight lineal championship... Floyd would be beating the man that beat the man... And Mosley would be beating the last lineal champion that still hasnt lost....

Why should it be going though Pacquiao?... Pacquiao beat Cotto, who won a vacant title from.... from.... **** i can't even remember the guy he fought for the vacant title...

Mayweather-Mosley should be for the ring belt... without a doubt, and plus the lineal championship doesnt have to be determined by the 1 and 2 it can be determined by any of the top three in a bout with good claim to it
