  • Would you like to see Boxing move to the fast track like MMA???

MMA kats come in fight a few fights then get thrown in with the "big boys" Brock Lesnar prime example.......one two fights boom he gets a shot.....

if you look at MMA guys records they don't get in too many scraps before they get shots...

Boxing in the other hand.....has a "he is not ready" stands.......Povetkin is one that comes to mind in recent times.....but they are litteratly all over the place....Rios aint' ready.....needs a few more fights for XYZ........Donaire ain't ready needs more fights....so and so and so on and so forth........

would you like to see these kats get it on sooner rather than later or do you like the "lets get 25-30 fights under the belt before we match up" deal???

that says more about the sports than the matchmakers

if you toss a guy with six or seven fights into a world title shot (happens a lot in the UFC, other orgs,) he will get his ass kicked

          it's an entirely idfferen ballgame

you work your way up from a four round fight to ones three times as long for world titles

most world champions have been fighting at a world class level since they were teenagers

it's just a totally different animal
there are guys at the top of the sport in MMA who have been fighting for less than ten years. many less than five. none of your favorite boxers have been fighting for less than ten years. most have been fighting since they were little kids.

if you match a fighter wrong in professional boxing you can end his career. many losses in MMA are not of the brutal type. a bad enough beating in a 12 round boxing match will end your career. it can end your life. you end up taking hundreds of punches

MMA is a totally different universe. if you're a high level college wrestler and a good athlete you can be making money fighting as a pro in a year.

why not. boxing is one discipline. of course you've got different fighters with different styles, but for the most part, you can tell right off the bat who does and who doesn't belong.

Boxing requires actual skill in one craft, with few varying styles. You would want to see two people swinging like crazed maniacs instead of what we're getting; disciplined fighters with their unique style?

Go youtube backyard fights; that's "fast-track" boxing for you.

Its like saying why not just take baseball players drafted from high school and college and immediately put them into the big leagues like in the NBA and NFL.

You know why that doesnt happen? Because it doesnt work

To answer your question, not really.

BUT I like how they usually have top competition fighting top competition. No ducking from one fighter. This would eliminate Floyd.

If you're good enough, you're good enough. Simple as that. There are too many boxers who have dozens of fights before even fighting someone with a winning record. That's not good for the sport. What is good for the sport is matching undefeated young prospects together and not having to worry about one of them losing, as a good performance from both of them will benefit both of their careers.

No one wants to see dull fights with nothing at stake. Yes, a boxer starting out should work his way up slowly at the start. But there's a point where it needs to be stepped up. Boxing needs to change. Maybe not in the same way as MMA, but it needs to change.
