this would be a really good trade for LA and an 'ok' trade for Knicks.

Why just OK? The Knicks don't need what Amare gives them. As a defender Gasol is average. Average is still light years better than Amare. He offers another dimension to the Knicks.

This is a good addition for LA, but its really scary how they have just decided the best thing for them was to throw all their chips on a coach who's never even made the finals.
