  • List Some of the most Dominant Performances Where a Fighter Avenged an Earlier Defeat

Most likely Manny Pacquiao will have an opportunity to avenge his controversial split decision loss to Tim Bradley in November.

List some fights where a boxer avenged an earlier defeat whether controversial or not in dominating fashion:

    Roy Jones over Montell Griffin
Pernell Whitaker over Jose Luis Ramirez
    Lennox Lewis over Hasim Rahman
    Paul Williams over Carlos Quintana
    Sergio Martinez over Paul Williams
    Miguel Cotto over Antonio Margarito
Sugar Ray Leonard over Roberto Duran

Azumah Nelson and SRR are the kings of rematch performances.

Offhand, I thought Ali dominated Frazier quite a bit in their second match although he did hold a lot. Ali vs Leon Spinks 2 was quite different. Joe Louis destroyed Max Schmeling in the re-match. Holyfield kind of dominated Moorer in their second fight. He also did much better with Bowe the second time around. Lennox Lewis turned the tables on McCall, as well.

I don't know about Lewis getting revenge on McCall, the guy was in the middle of a full on nervous breakdown and shouldn't have even been allowed to fight in the first place. He certainly got revenge on Rahman though.

Pacquiao beating Morales was pretty comprehensive after Erik had given him a lesson the first time out.

            This doesn't belong.

Yeah I was gonna say the two Lennox Lewis rematches. He got to avenge his draw with Holyfield after the first fight too. And yeah, Williams/Martinez, Holyfield/Bowe 2 were pretty nice IMO. Also Holmes should've got the decision in the Michael Spinks rematch for sure. Leonard/Duran 2.

Why not? Cotto dominated to avenge an earlier defeat...how does that not belong?
