  • mayweather's final pay-per-view card

mayweather has lately been hinting that he intends to stack his final undercard with his favourite up-n-comers, so, just for fun, in this thread we can predict and fantasise about what bouts will ultimately end up on the bill. feel free to exercise some optimism, but try to keep it within the realm of possibility

    i'm thinking:

    mayweather jr-brook/khan
    thurman-porter
    spence jr-berto
theophane-mayfield? (struggling here, but theophane is tmt and has the british connection with brook/khan, and floyd has name-dropped mayfield a couple times lately)

      Floyd vs Khan
      Thurman vs Porter
      Groves vs Jack
      Spence vs Karass

Not very realistic, but I'd love to see that.

Final fight on his showtime contract, but Floyds final fight will be on HBO, no way he retires 49 and 0, he wants to be 50 and 0 beating Marciano record.

this card is gonna be shit and floyd wants a lay up and for spence to do his dirty work by taking on his real challengers on the undercard. porter & thurman will tell floyd to piss off though and spence will end up fighting a guy like a josesito lopez or a guy below that level. meanwhile floyd will also try to even bypass khan and fight a completely past it fighter in berto. mayweather has already said he wants no part of a dogfight with porter and he wouldn't fight a prime thurman. he's going with the brook isn't a commodity angle to avoid that one also. so basically he's ruled out his 3 biggest challenges and might fight the 4th biggest challenge in khan. unless he walks over espinoza and makes him pay for the berto fight obviously top rank fighters are not included in my above statements because they aren't realistic options anyways.

will all depend on who ends up in the main event

If it's Mayweather-Brook, you end up with a twin-PPV/twin- fight card experience (Matchroom Sport is rumored to be looking at running a massive show in London on the same day, with the timing of everything working out pretty remarkably):

              Mayweather(c) vs Brook(c)
              Mares vs Santa Cruz
Errol Spence Jr vs TBD [Berto would make sense here]
[Matchroom Sport showcase:Lee Selby(c) ("Welsh Mayweather") "AJ" Joshua]

              {UK PPV headlined by James Degale(c) in London}

un-televised fights on Mayweather show would all be Mayweather Promotions fighters.

If it's Mayweather-Khan, you're back to just the one pot:

              Mayweather-Khan
              Mares-Santa Cruz
              Spence Jr-TBD
Theophane-Mayfield (basically an un-televise fight that ends up on the telecast due to what's available)

[A lot of fights have already been booked/in the process of being booked through July/August, knocking them out of the running for Mayweather's show]
