I know Latinos like Uruguay Argentina and Brazil are great in soccer and Cuba Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic are interested in baseball. But what about Basketball? Never heard of any Latin country taking international championships. USA!

Well PR was the first team ever to beat the US using NBA players at the Olympics in 2004.

Best squad of the past decade was Argentina whose moment of glory was a gold at the Athens Olympics, as well as bronze at Beijing.

Most consistently good latinamerican squad has been Brazil, followed by Puerto Rico.


Centrobasket is starting to get embarrasing to watch, its the same teams always (though Jamaica beat Mexico to qualify for Fiba Americas for the first time).

Centrobasket es como los juegos centro americanos, eso es un Field day. No hace falta llevar a los mejores para ganar. En el repechaje es que tenemos que estar ready. La primera ronda se ve facil y si Peavy, Ramos y Balkman estan saludable jugando al 100% y dominando los tableros como deberian, entramos a las olimpiadas comodo y tenemos el talento para ganarle a Argentina y España, porque a EU dudo que lo hagamos pronto.

La primera ronda se ve facil y si Peavy, Ramos y Balkman estan saludable jugando al 100% y dominando los tableros como deberian, entramos a las olimpiadas comodo y tenemos el talento para ganarle a Argentina y España, porque a EU dudo que lo hagamos pronto.

Un poco complicado será el repechaje por la razón que Arroyo Peavy y Balkman se unirán al equipo justo antes. Si no hay cohesión podemos perder de nuevo contra Grecia (que aunque su equipo no es el mismo del 2006-08, nos pueden dar una catimba) y entonces nos cruzaremos con Lithuania que en verdad da miedo.

Si clasificamos, me gustaría estar en el grupo B, grupo más flojo de los dos donde figura España como líder. Para estar en el grupo B tendríamos que perder en el primer intento por la clasificación (en el 2008 fue contra Grecia) y ganar en el segundo intento (en el 2008 contra Alemania).

Si jugamos en equipo clasificamos con pocos sustos, pero si vienen Barea y Arroyo escopeteando nos jodimos.

PD. A los abuelos de Argentina nos lo comemos vivos, para mí ganan como máximo 2 juegos en el grupo A. España por su parte nos va a dar tremenda paliza si nos enfrentamos, al menos que todavía tengamos su número como lo hemos tenido historicamente.
