He took a beating from Douglas, from Lennox, Evander in the first fight, Williams and even that loss to the irish guy.

Saying he didn't have heart is rubbish. He didn't quit like a Liston did for example.
Exactly. You could argue those fights should have been stopped in the corner the round before he came out and got KO'ed.

These retro 'hot takes' on Tyson are hilarious.

And Teddy Atlas needs to go ahead and keep Tyson's name out of his mouth. He's been running that same script for years now. Psychoanalyzing somebody you knew when they were 17 and haven't had a meaningful conversation with in 25 years is tired.

I thought Mike showed a significant amount of mental fortitude and courage by stepping into the ring with Lennox. He talked a good game but he had to know he was overmatched. And by the end of the fight when both of his eyes were bleeding and he couldn't get off any shots, he didn't fold up or cheat. He suffered a serious KO from Lennox and then afterward stood in the ring, no excuses, and complimented the champ with class and dignity. That night, Tyson took the high road. And that takes a lot of mental fortitude. Competitively speaking, most fighters want to offer lame excuses when they know they've been beat. Think of Pac after Mayweather and his "shoulder" excuse.

That's what it will look like for wilder if he cant get a win from here on in with live opponents...He still has a long way to go from actually being discussed of beating the cans Tyson did though, doesnt he?

Got to love these can claims!

Awh man, once again here we are with a Pac fan and theories against black fellas.
Tyson was accused of RAPE and JAILED in his PRIME. (personally I don't believe that it was a rape)
              Don King robbed him.
He was dubbed as the baddest man on the planet
Lost a child, had drug issues.
Man was a machine till some nasty stuff happend to him. Kneel and apologize you chump.

Tyson had a tremendous amount of heart. I think people mistaken lack of heart with Tyson's limitations. Tyson basically had only a plan A and that was to knock your head off. He didn't fold mentally, he was just incapable of making adjustments and his small frame also limited him as well.

Atlas is full of **** as usual. He says if a fighter had no fear of Tyson, then he would quit. Ruddock had no fear of Tyson. He was bigger and had serious power and took some of Tyson's best shots. Tyson stood toe to toe with him and never gave trying to win and he won both fights.

And Holyfield had no fear of Tyson either. Tyson was losing the first fight and still went for the KO until he got knocked out himself.

Tyson also had a lot personal and emotional issues later in his career that effected his performances.

His learning ability was cut short by D'Amato death. Prior to D'Amato death he had a game plan, he executed it. If he didn't get you in the 1st, 2 ND, 3rd, he get you in 4-8. Head movement, followed by a mean jab and crushing hooks. Excellent footwork, but it all started in the footwork.
