the other day when i was watching King of the Ring, it talked about the heavyweights and back then in those era, J.Johson, Lous, Ali, most black fighters faught, hardly did they take a back step. Now, a days most black fighters are boxers, Jeff Lacy is one exception but its no wonder i like how he fights, he always comes to fight and gives his all. I'd say most black fighters back then used to fight more then they do today.

Typical thread from a MORON.
Olivares and Chavez were masters at taking the sting off shots.
Only straight ahead, jab first fighters like Barrera took flush shots.
Chavez and Olivares and Manuel Ortiz, guys like that didn't take flush shots.
Same with Gato.Comment

i just think it is part of their boxing culture that tells them to be agressive at all times. its obviously has nothing to do with the genetic aspect of being a mexican, but i do think there is a cultural aspect that respects agression and the ability to fight while taking shots.
"Más vale morir de pie que vivir de rodillas"
This kind of mentality has brought us some incredible fights and incredible fighters. Everyone knows that the sport is called "Boxing" for a reason. But it is much more than that. To Mexican culture, tt's about facing a challenge to your full capacity.Comment

Mexican culture is a proud one. Wealth is obviously something that Mexican society lacks. Pride is something that you dont need money to have. You are not supposed to back down from a challenge. You are not supposed to submit to anyone. Thats why they throw them over the river, and they keep coming back.
