The one decent fight PBC put on ESPN did well, Leo Santa Cruz in LA so you had a good crowd. All the other fights either bad mis matches and fighters that should never be headling. The next fight on ESPN has frigging Lara as the main event. That is another fight doomed to flop. same guy who got booed his last fight. A guy who they had to give away free tickets to get anyone to show up to a showcase fight. And they booed him. The fight got terrible tv ratings. And what does PBC do? Give him another headline fight lol

We get it
Originally posted by bigdunny1 View PostIts ESPN people knew it was on, it got free pub all week and was highlighted on sportscenter before it aired. Casual fans just don't care for PBC. Too many cards with mismatches and fights that shouldn't even be headliners. Plus the main event stunk. A bad fight where the crowd are booing so even if fans tuned it they likely switched the channel after the first 2 or 3 rounds.
While you sulk, as Haymon continues to move forward (3-5 core PBC sponsors, greater variety of commercials being sold across the programs, etc), fight fans (casual or otherwise) will continue to relish in the abundance of fights being aired on TV, as PBC continues to fine-tune their effort.
Tomorrow night, PBC will air Fonfara-Cleverly and Kono-Kameda on SpikeTV, a doubleheader that's better than basically any card that's being put on outside of the PBC orbit.
The show will likely draw 800k-1m viewers, fans will get another night of quality fights, and you'll continue to loath your existence the entire time. lol

Foxsports1 just did 190k viewers. They took over for golden boy who were paid by fox and averaged 170k viewers. But operated on 1/10th budget. PBC instead pays fox and probably paid Austin trout more money alone for 1 mismatch fight then golden boy paid all their fighters and all their cards for one whole year on foxsports1. And despite all that money they spend they are only getting a measly 20k more viewers. Fans literally rather watch WNBA on ESPN2 rather then their fight that they paid millions and millions to be on ESPN.
PBC is losing millions every fight and more likely then not spike ratings will be what they have been which is bad and you will be on here like Fetta blaming the bad ratings on who knows maybe world series of poker, the world series of arm wrestling, hell maybe there is another WNBA game. It has to be that can't be fans just don't care about PBC at that's why the ratings suck.Last edited by bigdunny1; 10-15-2015, 11:51 PM.

The trend for PBC cards is that they are getting worse not better in the ratings. NBC each card performing worse the previous. Spike have basically gone down each month since they debuted.

Stevenson-Karpency
Fonfara-Cleverly [scheduled]
Rodriguez-Seals [scheduled]
The TV ratings for the bulk of these shows, I'd imagine, are available online; if you want to sit and believe that all of the shows have drawn horrible ratings, that's on you. (No ballgame on tomorrow, in addition to no other real sporting event to compete for eyeballs with and SpikeTV already having a solid fight audience, are all facts that are obvious).
You can't say that "PBC is losing millions every fight" when you present nothing but your own words.
You have no idea what the payouts to the fighters actually are for these shows, you have no idea what Sky Sports is paying PBC to broadcast this show live in the UK (Sky Sports also paid to broadcast the Selby fight), you have no idea what the other international partners are paying to air these PBC cards (Polish TV is picking up Fonfara's fight), and you have no idea what type of money PBC is bringing in from actually selling their ad spots (Corona, 1800 Tequila, Applebees, and several other companies are already named sponsors in the PBC orbit, while the commercials have consistently featured products from corporations across the country).
I'll be tuning in, enjoying another night of fights thanks to the PBC.
May as well go and find some other sport for you to enjoy, rather than wasting your time with something that you clearly loath, lol. ****ty way to live a life, tbh
