I like Juanma but he is sloppy. He is fun to watch but I would not bet a dime on him.

I wish my Cuban fighters received a quarter of this "attention". Maybe they are starting to. Major networks (Espn2) showcasing Yudel Jhonson, Luis Franco, Yordenis Ugas, Yordanis Despaigne, Luis 'El Leon' Garcia are signs of great things to come I say.

The networks know there is 'quality' involved, not just fan appeal.
They want to create a future star and this I hope will cause Cuban fans from a casual level to jump on the choo choo.
      Same here, bro...same here.

ESPN has focused a lot on these Cuban fighters, in part because of the quality of the athletes, but also because of the Cuban "mystique" We're very lucky to get so much attention. I'm very grateful for it.

I want to make a special note about Despaigne. I didn't think very highly of Yordanis from the start. I always considered him a second-tier Cuban fighter. His performance against Syllakh proved my hunch, revealing what could be expected from him at the top level. Then came the Miranda fight. What an embarrassment. Despaigne was outclassing Edison, but chose to take a DQ win by playing up the effects of Miranda's low blows. Yordanis already has two losses. He's a head-case. I cringe when I see his name mentioned in the same breath with the other Cuban prospects and champions.

Some of the Cubans will not pass of course. Depaigne I don't know personally but I have seen his demeanor. Not a bad guy. His outings could've been more impressive thats for sure not taking away anything from Syllakh.
I know you're not too fond of Ugas either.

Yan Barthelemy was another unfortunate amateur translating into the pros which met his fate too soon. Some will just not make it. That being said his little bro Rances just kicked a$$ recently vs Hylon Willimas jr on ESPN2.

For me in the Mtagwa fight he showed all of his flaws and I knew it was just a matter of time before he would lose. He kept the same people around and they can't fix any of his flaws. When he fights Salido again the same thing will happen all over again and he will be pretty much irrelevant in boxing.

Not a mega fight. If Lopez beats Salido, I'd rather see him fight Mikey Garcia at 126. And if Gamboa beats Rios, I'd rather see him fight Marquez or Broner (if he beats Perez) at 135.

Don King has a prospect called Angelo "Cuban Cobra" Santana 12-0 9kos. Look into him,Youtube etc.

I see something special unfolding, many errors to correct but has a special "something" which I can't put in words.
Unfortunately King is moving him at a snails pace, which I guess is not too big of a deal given Santana's age.

'Roger' Mtagwa was given an opportunity and he made the most out of it. Lopez was suppose to BLOW this guy away but it turned into a blood-match.

People still gave him (Lopez) much credit at the time for having a warriors heart.

Gamboas performance vs Mtagwa also helped support the theory of Juanmas perhaps overrated status.

I don't doubt his heart, what i doubt are his talent and skill.

A really good fight, yes, HBO worthy. A mega fight or even a PPV, no.... that ship has sailed. Juanma has a ways to go to to regain his luster. Originally that fight was amazing because both guys has good fan bases, and they both appeared invincible, and offensive minded, Juanma had a bad night, showed that he was a mere mortal.
Its still a good fight, and alot of people will watch it, I just don't think its a fight that should headline a PPV anymore.
