I'm looking to get back into shape and I feel like boxing will be a better choice for me rather than going to a MMA gym (because it's mad expensive and I outgrew the whole mma thing)

With that said, I used to pay $120/month at the mma gym(s).

This boxing gym that i'm interested in is only $150 for 4 months (no contract). It's a non-profit organization. The trainer there is around 80 years old. His name is Roy Witts I believe. It's a real ****hole according to my friend. My goal is to have my first amateur bout next year.

portkellsboxingclub.com (I can't post urls yet)

There are other gyms I could go too such as Tony Peps gym... but they're all expensive. I'm a beginner so hopefully this gym can help me achieve my goals. What should I be looking for in a gym?
couldnt open that link, I guess it depends how serious you are about training. 120 for a month is fuking crazy.

Hey thx for the reply. There really isn't much to see on the site anyways.

Yeah well..it'll be $150 for 4 months which is as good deal and no contract.

this schedule
Boxing classes :

Monday, Wendesday, Friday : 4:30pm - 6:00pm & 6:30pm - 8:00pm

Sunday : 1:00pm - 3:00pm

This gym has a good staple of amateurs and I'm assuming they ain't no boxercise gym. They're always at the boxing events.

Go for it mate - You dont need much to have a good work out and If you've had a year out it's probably a good place to start again. I'd go for 4 months build you fitness levels and just take it from there...Good luck

I found 2 other gyms that I can train at

1. North Burnaby Boxing Gym
-Head coach is a former olympian Manny Sobral http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hum...9373&cat=boxer
-The gym looks really nice
-Only bad thing is that it's far away from where I live (45 minutes)
-Only $240 for the whole entire year

2. Queensborough
-Really grungy rocky-esque style boxing gym
-The dudes that train there are tough
-$150 for the entire year (I think)

I guess im overly-excited..at the choices laid out in front of me... don't mind me haha

nvm, i've chosen to go with the North Burnaby Boxing Club just because they offer this....

"Boxing club members will have full access to the facilities at Rev's, which include showers, sauna, a 2,700-sq.-ft. weight room and cardio bikes, without a hike to its present fees."

That right there, PLUS having a former olympian is just awesome.... Good night all.
