They could certainly make a strong case.
Mayweather was lineal champ and never actually lost the title in a fight, and Mosley beat the man (Margarito) who beat the man (Cotto) who was at the top once Mayweather forfeited his lineal reign. However I wouldn't complain if they waited until matching up the winner of Mosley-Mayweather with the winner of Pacquiao-Clottey before properly restarting the welterweight lineage. |
