An amazing thing happened to the fighters on the way to the Dallas press conference (with slideshow)

Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey beating the traffic to Dallas press conference Tuesday.
Sean Reed / Northtexasboxing.comDALLAS - This is one for the record book. Or at least it's an "only in boxing" moment. I have never heard of anything close to this before.

The reason the Dallas press conference started 40 minutes late on Tuesday is that the solemn funeral procession for a fallen Arlington police officer virtually blocked all the traffic emptying into Cowboys Stadium from all directions.

Sean Reed, a big boxing writer for www.northtexasboxing.com, was in the backed - up traffic for 35-40 minutes and worried he was missing the important press conference. Looking over his right shoulder, he sees Joshua Clottey getting out of an SUV, also blocked in traffic, walking toward the median and a place to cross the street near a policeman.

Reed clutches his camera, thinking it's his lucky day.

Reed was only half right.

A second later, he says an young familiar - looking man brushes past him heading toward Clottey and it's... you guessed it, Manny Pacquiao, in the same predicament. Rushing to get to this big-time press conference on time.

Wait, it gets better.

The policeman handling the traffic calls his people, and in just a few minutes Jerry Jones has a golf court driven by an armed stadium security officer sent to the location for the two fighters and together they ride across the wide street and into the parking lot of Cowboys Stadium and on to the press conference.

A few minutes later traffic was moving again, and Reed along with many other journalists also made their way to the stadium.

For his trouble, Reed had a picture taken with Bobby Pacquiao, credit for a few other pictures and a good story to tell. One was the "Money Shot" of Pacquiao and Clottey in the golf cart.

Reed, a boxing junkie, believes he was the only person who recognized Bobby Pacquiao with all the chaos swirling around. This I'm sure is true and I'm sure it made Bobby proud that he was recognized and deservedly so.

Pacquiao even held things up another few minutes as he greeted the Filipino-Americans of North Texas group who came to welcome him and he signed autographs and had his picture taken with many in the group.

Historically, promoters go crazy spending time and money keeping the main event fighters apart, and here we have two class acts (Champion Manny Pacquiao and No. 1 contender Joshua Clottey) smart enough to be professional and share a ride without interference from friends, parasites and assorted rappers.

If a story that is fit to print beats this one by March 13, or even by December 31, I would like to know about it.
