Poll: Did Duran Win The Lightweight Title Fairly?

Although I haven't watched the fight in ages, I've always felt that Ken Buchanan may have been harshly treated..
I remember the fight being stopped at the end of the 13th, after Ken had been floored with a blatant low blow, only a slpit second before the bell sounded..
Then, I can only recall the ref, hastilly waving the fight off as Buchanan writhed in agony, while simultaneously attempting to protest..

Have I got this wrong?.. Or did Buchanan tell the ref, he couldn't continue?

I've seen a documentury, in which Duran openly admits to hitting him low, and then laughs it off while saying that he had to out tough Buchanan in order to make him quit..

Should Duran have been disqualified?
Should Buchanan have been given time to recover?
Or was Kenny completely beaten and deserved to lose his title?

Shortly after losing the title, Buchanan was still good enough to beat Jim Watt, so why wasn't he given a rematch with Duran?

I look forward to your thoughts and opinions.. mm

Duran was winning the fight when Buchanan threw punches after the bell and Duran responded with a punch that went low. Ken couldn't recover and continue in time and Duran was rightfully given the win, in my opinion.

There should have been a rematch for sure but it never happened. Duran's management may have avoided an immediate match-up with Buchanan but they did eventually offer him a rematch, which Buchanan declined.

Terrible way for Ken to lose his title. He deserved a rematch which would have been tough for Duran. Ken was smart, and would have learned from their first fight.

Duran may have been winning, but the ref was an idiot, and it was clear Ken had been low blowed. He should have had 5 minutes to recover.

Duran shouldnt have been given the win with a illegal punch. Theres no debating.

I don't think the so called Low Blow, was enough to end the fight.
I think Buchanan knew he wasn't going to win a decision
and hoped that Duran would be DQ'd. Duran's reign at Lightweight
is proof that he was the man.

duran was losing the fight and he went for the gusto and intentionally gave that low blow that put a halt to the fight,duran should of been disqualified,how could the commision let him get away with that nonsense,duran has been using these tactics his whole career,thats why he will and cannot even be considered an all time great,he quit against leonard in that famous no mas,i would of no mas him out of the country for good,he lost to benitez,hagler,leonard,and he got floored against hearns and when he awoke from that blow he said he does not remember,no kidding he does not remember,he got nailed with a bomb that sent him jaw first falling like a tree that has just been chopped down into the canvas

Well Duran was comfortably winning the fight and Buchanan would have had to knock him out to win which was unlikely as Duran had a good chin and Buchanan wasn't really a puncher. I think what basically happened was Ken threw a few late ones and Duran though ah free for all and hit him low, whether Buchanan made the most of it I don't know it sounds like he took a bit of damage. I guess the refereee could have given him some time to recover but then Duran would have still won. Yes he should have been given a rematch but whether he could have come up with a different game plan and won I have my doubts.

IMO, Duran was winning, he was definitely using alot of questionable tactics like boring in head first and trapping Buchanan's neck with his forearm but he was winning. Buchanan got low blowed about as bad as you can, A vicous punch to the nuts, sure Ken was still throwing after the bell barely but did not deserve to get hit that foul. Duran won the fight after cheating and that cannot be called a fair victory. Buchanan was going to lose anyway but that was not a fair victory.
