Well the reason its manly is because its more painful and more stressful thing to do if you go to the right boxing/muay thai gym. I mean I have got ground and pounded before but its not that bad cause the ground is kinda protecting you so the gravity is keeping you safe. BUT!!!! In striking your standing one second and next second your KTFO and the nature of it self is very very stressful since its spontaneous and makes it a bit tougher. I don't know man to be honest I am doing a bad job defending striking its one of those things that if you practice grappling and LEGIT striking ( no cardio/non-contact crap) you can see where I am coming from maybe. But as far as gsp goes gsp is a STUD striker he really is but I HATE when he goes for wrestling cause its kinda like tease I want to see him strike with people since his got great footwork and kickboxing and an awesome switch kick his striking clinic was amazing against Shawn shark. Watch his fight with sherk he can outstriker freaking everybody but he keeps going for wrestling which kinda is lame |

You rarely see someone writhing on the ground in pain from a strike (sometimes you do), but I've seen guys writhing in pain after armbars, kimura's, heel hooks, knee bars, etc. Look at Randleman vs Shogun. Shogun catches him in a knee bar and Randleman is literally screaming. Haven't seen many guys screaming while they're being punched. Grappling martial arts were the very first arts to be invented. I don't think the "grappling is gay, striking is for men" mentality really popped up until boxing started becoming popular. |

You have been misunderstood sir What I meant wasn't grappling as whole I meant the wrestling aspect. Mind you despite me being a boxing/striking practitioner myself my fav guy in all of combat sports is Karo Parisyan and keep in mind that wrestling is different with submission fighting I have done some judo and the newaza part can be painful and I do agree with the submission holds but gsp isn't really a submission fighter he is a passive gnp fighter that grinds you out thats the only problem I have but then again to me its not that big of a deal cause... Hey gsp is got to get paid to and retain his health and if wrestling and positioning is the way to go for him then more props to him but nonetheless I am not crazy about it. Oh and thanks for not responding with anger and hate like some mma websites that I don't go to cough sherdog cough anymore. So who is your fav btw |
