Thats not what I meant. Miranda was doing it earlier in his career with bums like everyone else does. After that, whenever he took a quick fight he did it with a very solid name and Cintron isnt doing that. Thats what Im saying, Cintron is not at the stage where he should be fighting this guy

So to do that to a guy with a decent chin and a draw with Gomez, it adds some push to Cintron's marketability.
If that was the case then I would agree with you but its not the case at all. This guys chin sucks

Thats the thing. He IS trying to do that.

Im going to end this by saying this last thing that I think will put me over the top. Go and look at the opponents for all the top guys in boxing and none of them took a fight like this anytime recently unless it was against a guy who is solid. The guys he just fought were his tuneups. Look at how good and deep the WW division is? He has plenty of guys to fight and this guy wont help him. Miranda was fighting guys like Green & Pavlik on short notice. Come on now, its not the same thing at all. One guy said its like sparring. Your so right. He can do this same thing in sparring. I cant believe that you guys are backing this even for a stay busy fight. It makes no sense to me and I gurantee you that he will pay dearly for it

Steward's reason for taking the fight is because he simply wants Cintron to remain active and to keep his name in the public eye, especially because of the number of possible big fights in the loaded welterweight division.

"Sooner or later, he'll be offered some kind of big fight," Steward said. "Making a lot of money on these type of fights is not the issue. It's about staying busy, staying sharp and having people see you fight. Kermit has got to be active and we're trying to do that."

If he fights any top guy in November after doing this then he will be straight up slaughtered and it will probally be the end of his career. I bet anything on it. If he fights in December then that would be over 5 months from his last real fight and all he has to show for it is this meaningless tuneup? Its so unecessary and it cant help him in any way. It will only hurt him. Im glad you guys think its ok for him to fight a 140 pounder who was KO by Hopkins and then step into the ring with Margarito again. I hope your going to sign over his death certeficate

your arguement is like pitchers shouldn't pitching in triple A to get ready for the major league... u would like to see him with a fighter with a better record i assume and that would make the fight have more creditablity i agree with u on that

To me thats Apples & Oranges. His whole ****in career has been in the minors until Margarito and since then he's had 4 fights, 3 in triple A. Now he's going back to 1A? His ass better get to the majors soon. He should already be there

You can talk all you want but this is Steward's doing not Cintron's. Manny wants this fight because Feliciano was the first to jump at the shot. Listen, this thing was common practice just 30 years ago and now its ******. Cintron in Manny's eyes didn't get enough work in against Mathyysee and he wants more work for Cintron that won't extend him too much. I like this fight, but Feliciano has a chance to play spoiler again. A fight with Gomez after this or Williams or Margarito again would be perfect, but at this moment, there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking this fight with this caliber of opponent. Its called good managing, marketing, and developing of a fighter.

You guys dont get it. I think you all forget how ****ty Cintron's resume was before he fought Margarito. He had one of the worst reume's Ive ever seen and just had a life & death match with a shot ass Teddy Reid before the Margarito fight. I cant believe alot of people picked him. He almost got KO by Reid. I knew he was going to get killed.

Since then he fought a bum and 3 solid guys. This is his time to step up. Do you guys realize that he will be 28 in October? He's old as **** and hasnt done jack. You think he should be fighting this guy right now? His ****in career is going to be over before its started. Dont be fooled either because he's getting by right now on his size, like alot of those WW's are. None of them look like they will be anyting at 154 and we saw that when Margarito couldnt even handle a guy like Santos. Cintron may not even be able to stay at WW for awhile. Now he's fighting this other bum and he will be 28 and having his 2nd big fight and I bet he's going to lose again and probally get embarrased because of the guys he's fought and the timing of when he's fought them.

Taylor just had 3 fights in a row with Hopkins & Winky, then came back with 2 tuneups in Ouma & Spinks and everyone killed him for that. Those guys are 10x better then Feliciano and Cintron hasnt done a quarter of the stuff Taylor has. He has to step up. Here's his resume:
