1940s - Sugar Ray Robinson, Willie Pep, Ezzard Charles
1930s - Henry Armstrong, Barney Ross, Joe Louis
1920s - Gene Tunney, Harry Greb, Benny Leonard
1910s - Jack Dempsey, Battling Levinsky, Sam Langford
1900s - Jack Johnson, Joe Gans, Battling Nelson

I'll get to answering the question tomorrow at work, but how in the world can you have Duran for the 80s and not the 70s?

agreed duran although beating leonard, barkley and moore in the eighties was inconsistent and only lost to Estaban once and avenged that loss twice plus defended his title 12 times in the seventies plus beating palomino. I would remove him from the eighties and plug him in the seventies removing Frazier and Foreman and putting in monzon. So for the seventies Duran, Monzon,Ali
eighties Leonard, Hagler , Hearns

very good list but somehow the rock need's to be in the 50's and I would remove saddler. both greb and leonard could almost make the 1910"s list as well.
Four the sixties I personally would put carlos Ortiz and omit dick tiger although that is a hard choice

No Tyson or Holmes for the '80s? Holmes seemed to be pretty dominant in the first half of the decade with Tyson coming on strong for the second half.

they both certainly deserve consideration. I guess you would omit hearns.

awesome replies... there were so many tremendous fighters that top 3 was tough to select but top 5 makes it primarily more open to choose from
