It's been curiously quiet on the Floyd Mayweather front.
Since his release from jail last summer, Floyd Mayweather has maintained an uncustomarily low profile.
For a guy who boasts himself as the #1 star of the sport, it's quite odd that Mayweather and his mouthpiece Leonard Ellerbe have remained so quiet.
Of course, there are many theories as to why. 50 Cent says Mayweather, almost 36, is so broke that he needs to be on allowance from his extremely wealthy advisor Al Haymon. Potential opponents like Robert Guerrero refuse to agree to terms to face Mayweather because they want but will not get a "fair share" from the cash desperate Mayweather. The boxing powers-that-be are uncomfortable with investing in any Mayweather fight that does not involve Manny Pacquiao because it could be a catastrophic flop financially.The lastest words out of the Mayweather camp are encouraging though. They indicate that the time might finally be right and Floyd Mayweather might finally be warming to the idea of biting the bullet and taking on the man he ducked for three years, Manny Pacquiao.
"The Pacquiao fight has to happen with Floyd," Roger Mayweather said according to Boxingscene.com. "People want to see it. People don't care whether he got knocked out. Floyd will knock him out and that's the fight they want to see."Roger Mayweather admits and understands why Pacquiao and Marquez will fight again for the fifth time later this year.
"And people still probably want to see Floyd and Marquez. Marquez knocked [Pacquiao] out and people still probably want to see that fight."
But then again, this could be a scheme by the Mayweather camp to fake interest to fight Pacquiao yet again, so as to boost Floyd's relevance.
Because it seems logical that most boxing fans only really care to see Mayweather against Pacquiao, if Pacquiao can avenge his KO loss to Marquez. The public has grown tired of Mayweather handpicking Golden Boy set-up opponents and may refuse to pay premium dollars to see Mayweather until he faces Pacquiao in what would be the biggest event in boxing history.
Nobody is talking about Mayweather now and his silence over the last six months could very well indicate that his career has been stalled by Pacquiao's shock KO loss. Or perhaps, Mayweather's career is actually at a dead end ... unless Pacquiao can come to the rescue after avenging Marquez.

I said the very same thing just last week. I feel that Pac's KO loss to JMM will effect the demand to see Floyd fight since the Megafight has now gone down in flames.

If u ask me, ever since PAC being ko'd by JMM, I see Floyd's ppv #'s taking a hit due to the buildup to what was once a mega fight now being dead in the water. There not 1 fighter popular enough to the casual fans to gain as much interest amongst casuals than PAC vs May drew. At the moment there is no mega fight. The closest would be Mayweather/Canelo and I still wouldn't consider it a mega fight as Canelo is not well known to the U.S casual fans. At the moment he's known as the red headed Mexican boxer. He has no career defining fights or wins.

The demand was shattered . Hes never lived up to any of his hype. And his fights have been boring on top of that. Hes never fought the best version of anyone over the last decade. JMM took what little steam Floyd had when he KOd Manny!
