Most "average" guys have a bad reaction to being hit square in the face. A clean jab is usually followed by a retaliatory haymaker of their own. If you're relatively competet, you could usually just step back and throw the lead hook behind their punch and it'll land. You should be able to pot shot most average guys with your lead hand. Then a feint or two and youre usually good.
