Lou DiBella on Sergio vs Golovkin: 'A fight that economically makes no sense'

Golovkin (24-0, 21 KO) is a legitimate contender in the middleweight division. But he is not a star, and he's got a long way to go before he builds his name enough that he could face the likes of Sergio Martinez, says Martinez's promoter, Lou DiBella.

"Who would give a flying ****, and why are you even asking? Who knows Gennady Golovkin other than you, me and a few other people? How many people would he bring to the table? How much money would he generate? ... He is a very good fighter, but it's a fight that economically makes no sense."



But Martin Murray makes economical sense? If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck huh.

I agree with DiBella that it doesn't make sense financially speaking. But who the F are they fighting or trying to fight that makes sense financially? Macklin, Dzinziruk, Barker?? At least Golovkin fought on HBO 1 time; you would think that would make more sense than most guys available right now not named Canelo, Chavez, Cotto, or Mayweather.

He is. He may of in the past took on all comers but it's pretty clear that they want no part of this fight. They have taken on far lesser known fighters but are using this excuse time after time. At this point in Martinez's career he deserves some easy pay days but to say they don't want this fight, strictly because of money is pure ignorance.
