By followed I didn't mean she was right behind him. She was looking for him and her search led her to the church.

And why does it even matter how long it took her to get there?

She went there to see Dex and to her surprise, she got more than she bargained for.

It was the sole purpose of that scene.

She sent him to the church, IIRC, to do a final forensic sweep, she knew he was going to be there.

Yes. However...
The real problem is in why Dexter chose to off Travis in the church,
where at least one person (Deb) EXPECTED him to be. Even if you
eliminate his sister as a concern, the church was just a ridiculously
unsecured location to be pulling that kind of shit.
