Arrow RELIGIOUS IMPORTANCE of Nations = SUCCESS OR FAILURE of Nations?

Ive always held a long personal belief that the more religious the country is the less economically successful they are. It was just a personal generalization i never bothered to look up with statistics until now:

Importance of Religion by Country:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Importa...ion_by_country

Top 47 1st World Developed Countries:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Developed_country

List of Countries by Average Wage:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...y_average_wage

List of Developing Countires:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Developing_country

It seems like my theory is supported. If you look at those links showing religious importance, almost all countries who are the LEAST RELIGIOUS are some of the most economically successful, developed, first world countries in the world while those that are the MOST RELIGIOUS are poor, third world, developing countries.

Coincidence much?

A less educated country is more likely to be a very religious country.

*sigh* Number one, most of the world in general is religious so it's a good idea to keep that in mind.

Number two, you might want to look at WHEN these nations became advanced economies. Were they religious then? This seriously wounds the causation argument.

Now there may be a correlation here which simply amounts to the fact that economic prosperity tends to lead to irreligion.

There is some grounds for that conclusion even when observing the ancient world, where prosperity, while not usually leading to positions like Atheism and agnosticism often lead to religious apathy.
