English is not my first language.

One phrase/error I detest is 'would of'.

'If the fight had been a 12-rounder, Smith would of knocked him out'. You see it everyday around here. Even posters that normally has great command of the english language, routinely make this error.

How can people even make it wrong? Would of does not make any sense.

For those who do not know, the correct term is 'would have'.

It annoys me, but frankly I have no idea whether this garbage is limited to fatyanks or if the entire anglon community is guilty.

what annoys me about fellow Englishmen is the fact that sometimes they take up americanisms like 'garbage', when everybody in the english isles and beyond know full well it's 'rubbish'.
