Quote:
Sutherland jumps on Spinks early and wins the first 3 rounds by applying constant pressure. Inexplicably, he begins to box and Spinks takes control of the fight, digging some tremendous left hooks to the body and right crosses to the head. Late in round 8, Spinks lands his vaunted Spinks Jinx, dropping Sutherland for a 9 count. Sutherland survives, and Spinks wins a very decisive 10 round decision. Ray Robinson vs Jake Lamotta VI(2/14/51) First 9 rounds saw Lamotta have tremendous success cutting off the ring and outjabbing the master boxer. However, beginning with the 10th round, Ray began walking Lamotta down by landing several powerful hooks, uppercuts and crosses. Finally, in the 13th, the state commission mercifully stops the fight and Robinson becomes Middleweight king for the first time. |
