Default The Top Rank-Golden Boy Cold War History

Gamboa-Ponce De Leon (2011) 14-1 odds in favor of Gamboa

Pavlik-Hopkins (2008) over 4-1 odds in favor of Pavlik

Margarito-Mosley (2008) 4-1 odds in favor of Margarito

Pacquiao-Marquez II (2008) around 3-1 odds in favor of Pacquiao

Decided to do this after reading Arum's comments about a potential Donaire-Mares matchup (in reality just a petty backhand swipe at Showtime/Espinoza, GBP, and Haymon). Unless his fighter is the heavy favorite, there will be no Donaire-Mares or any other Top Rank-GBP cross promotion or even a Top Rank-promoted TR fighter vs GBP fighter matchup and that's just how he likes it and wants to keep it.

There still might be hope for Rigondeaux-Morel though .

Bob Arum... Yesterday he lied, today he's telling a lie.

Bob Arum is an old senile snake of a person. He will get what is coming to him.

Pacquiao was not the favorite against Oscar.

You have to take name value and drawing power into account. Arum had no problems matching Pac against Oscar and Hatton who were bigger draws than him at the time and Pac probably didn't ask for a big guarantee, unlike Floyd did when he wanted to fight Oscar and left TR.

I honestly forgot about that fight...

Pacquiao was a slight betting underdog against Oscar, but Top Rank and Pacquiao had everything to gain in that fight. Top Rank and Pacquiao were averaging 300K PPV buys and Oscar, coming off the Mayweather fight, was sure to triple or quadruple their usual audience and for one fight at least (if he lost) jump from low 7 figures to 8 figures.

After the De La Hoya fight, Pacquiao became around 3-1 favorite against Hatton. After jumping from 135 to 147, seemingly being in no man's land, Hatton was the best and most profitable fight at the time.
